REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Weekly rehearsals for the three YSGW are held on the following schedule:

Junior Division: Thursdays, 5:30-6:45 pm, Chorus Room, North Middle School

Senior Division: Thursdays, 7:00-8:30 pm, Chorus Room, North Middle School

Moriah: Sundays, 2:00-3:30 pm, Bates Hall, Room 117

ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY

To learn to work and perform successfully together, it is vital that all participants in Young Singers of Greater Westfield make a commitment to the group and its members. Consistent attendance at rehearsals is required to enable all members to learn their music and to learn to work as a team in their performances. To ensure that rehearsals are as productive as possible, it is also essential that everyone arrive on time. Singers who arrive late distract others and reduce the efficiency of the available rehearsal time. Singers should arrive at rehearsals 15 minutes before the designated start time and should be seated and ready to begin singing on time. Singers must stay in the rehearsal space throughout the rehearsal. Excessive tardiness (three or more late arrivals) will be considered an unexcused absence and will be noted as such in the singer’s record.

Food of any kind and gum chewing are prohibited in rehearsals, but singers may bring water bottles.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The dress rehearsal for each of the two primary concerts are the only time when singers have the opportunity to practice their entrances and exits and to go over critical details about the performance. Attendance at the two dress rehearsals is mandatory for participation in the concerts.

REHEARSAL CANCELLATION POLICY

If the Westfield Public Schools are cancelled or there is an early release due to inclement weather, rehearsals for YSGW will also be cancelled. Under all other circumstances, the decision to cancel or reschedule a YSGW rehearsal or other event will be made at least three hours before the scheduled event, except in cases of unavoidable emergency. All cancellations will be posted on the YSGW Web site (www.ysgw.org). In addition, YSGW uses a telephone tree system through which singers and their families are called to announce cancellations.
